Stephen A. Gold graduated from Columbia University and St. Johns University Law School with honors. He worked as an attorney with the federal government for a number of years, most recently as the Director of the Office of the Consumer Advocate of the Postal Rate Commission. He also served as the Assistant General Counsel for the National Cable TV Association and as an associate in a small District of Columbia law firm.
In 1993, Mr. Gold entered private practice in Fairfax County, concentrating on the areas of business law, domestic relations and estate planning. He is active in civic affairs. He is a member of the D.C. and Virginia bars and the Fairfax Bar Association and is active in the family law section of that Association.
Mr. Gold is trained in divorce mediation and has helped many clients work through property, custody and support issues. He knows the advantages of both trusts and wills and can chart the course that will meet individual and family needs as well as prevent excessive estate taxes. He has also helped a client settle a large monetary IRS tax claim.
Winifred Atlas is a paralegal in the firm. In addition to her research and administrative responsibilities, she is a certified divorce mediator and does co-mediation with Mr. Gold. She has a B.S. degree from New York University where she graduated with honors, and has taken courses in counseling and legal research.
